English Country Dance Music Sessions

Sundays 7-8:30 pm
Second and Fourth Sundays
Fall 2024: September 8-December 7
Winter 2024-25: December 8-March 23
Spring 2025: April 13-June 22

UVMC English Country Dance Instrumental Music sessions provide a friendly and supportive group setting in which to explore the world of English Country dance music, from the 15th century to here and now.  Some ability to read music is helpful but not required. Drop-ins are welcome – but resource materials will be offered to anyone contacting the instructor in advance!  Sessions are led by Carol Compton, with occasional guest leaders/players invited. 

Students can enroll in the full semester of sessions or attend on a drop-in basis. Enrollment is offered on a pay-as-you-wish basis, supported by UVMC’s Tuition Assistance Program. For reduced enrollment, please use the RSVP form below.

In the 2024-25 season, the English Country Dance Ensemble will have 3 semesters:

  • Fall: 6 weeks plus event
    September 8 & 22
    October 13, 27
    November 10, 24
    Holiday event: December 7
  • Winter: 6 weeks
    December 8
    January 12, 26
    Feb 9, 23
    Open Band English Dance in Norwich: March 9
  • Spring: 6 weeks plus event
    April 13, 27
    May 11, 25
    Sing & play May 17
    June 8, 22
Ages: 13 & up, or with permission of session leader
Length: 90 minute sessions, September to June
Tuition: Suggested Payment of $25 per session or $160 per semester.
