Alex Hurd
Voice
BA, Oberlin College; Master’s and Doctoral degrees from The Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Baritone Alex Hurd was the winner of the 2005 Joy In Singing Award and made his New York recital debut in 2006. In 2004, he received Second Prize in the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. A Fulbright Grantee, he devoted a year to studying lieder in Stuttgart, Germany. He earned fellowships to the Aspen Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Center and the Steans Institute at the Ravinia Festival. He earned Bachelor’s degrees in voice performance and history from Oberlin College and his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He currently teaches at St. Anselm College and has served on the voice faculties at SUNY-Potsdam, SUNY-Buffalo, SUNY-Fredonia, and Baldwin Wallace University. He is excited to join the faculty at the Upper Valley Music Center.
