Tune Up Lessons
Maybe you have just graduated and want to check in with your teacher; or you have been gone for years and need to brush up on technique; or you have an audition coming up and need timely feedback?
What is a Tune Up lesson?
A Tune Up lesson is a free 30-minute lesson available once a year for anyone who has previously enrolled in at least one full semester of lessons at UVMC. Our goal is to help you reconnect with music-making, practice, and/or past instructors, regardless of where you are in your musical journey!
Who can participate?
Tune Up lessons are open to students who enrolled in Individual Lessons, Suzuki Lessons, or Mini-Group Lessons more than one year ago. This program is not currently open to those who only participated in group classes or ensembles, or who have enrolled in a UVMC lesson program within the past year.
Who teaches Tune Up lessons?
Depending on interest, any UVMC faculty member could teach a Tune Up lesson. It’s ok to request the same instructor you had for lessons, or a different one. We will do our best to honor requests but can’t guarantee any individual’s availability for this program.
What are my Instrument/Voice Choices?
Any instrument/voice currently available for UVMC lessons is a possibility! It’s ok to request a Tune Up lesson with a different instrument/voice from the one with whom you studied previously.
Are there scheduling limitations?
Tune Up lessons are available as space allows, and subject to instructor availability, program capacity, and limited rescheduling options.
We can’t guarantee that available Tune Up lessons will match your schedule. Your best chance of success is to request a Tune Up lesson at least one month in advance.
