UVMC Received a Grant for Social Music-Making
The Upper Valley Music Center received an Arts for Community Engagement grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts. The grant will support Weekends@UVMC, a collection of sessions and classes that are offered on a drop-in basis with optional donations. These programs make high-quality instruction and ensemble opportunities available to musicians in the community, regardless of their ability to pay or make long-term commitments.
The programs included Weekends@UVMC are Chamber Music Sight Reading Parties, the English Country Dance Ensemble, Slow Jams, and Vocal Soundings. Responding to the limitations of COVID-19, each of the faculty leaders have adapted the programs to continue building community through online and socially-distanced outdoor gatherings. The grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts will allow UVMC to continue strengthening community connections through music, whatever the upcoming year may bring.
