Beginning Fiddle

Fiddle students listening to a new tune.

Always wanted to play the fiddle? In this zero to toe-tapping class we’ll start with the very basics: how to hold the fiddle and bow with clean, relaxed technique that fits your body, how to “hear” and remember a tune. We’ll progress using classic melodies from the Irish, Old Time, New England and French Canadian
traditions, and explore how to find and join a jam session or just play for your own joy at home. Written music will be available; recording device highly recommended.

Fall will be Part 1 and Spring will be Part 2 of this beginner course. Wondering which class is right for you? Contact info@uvmusic.org we’ll follow up with placement information.
