Songwriting Workshop with Mercedes Escobar
Sunday, March 29,
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm EDT
Join UVMC guest Mercedes Escobar for an interactive workshop focused on practical tools and techniques for developing musical ideas into fully formed songs. Drawing from approaches studied at Berklee College of Music, the session explores melody development, lyric writing techniques, song structure, and creative workflow strategies. This workshop is programmed in conjunction with the performance at UUCUV’s Roots & Wings Coffeehouse on March 28.
Mercedes Escobar studied at Berklee, where she served on the Berklee Songwriting Student Council. She has been a finalist in the Latin category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, received a songwriting award from Berklee, and was nominated for a Boston Music Awards within six months of beginning her career in the United States. Her artistry has also been recognized by 3-time Grammy-winning artist and producer Gaby Moreno, who praised her voice and songwriting in Vogue México.
Her upcoming album of all-original music will include collaborations in different genres with Joe Bonamassa, Fabiola Mendez, Luis Conte (of James Taylor, Eric Clapton and Santana fame) as well as Gaby Moreno herself on backing vocals. Don’t miss this opportunity to interact and learn from a rising talent. Learn more about Mercedes Escobar and join her mailing list on her website.
