Ellen Nordstrom

Voice, Lyric Mezzo

Ellen Nordstrom (Lyric Mezzo) graduated from the University of North Carolina and continued her studies in voice with Louis Burkot and Sandra Sliker at Dartmouth College. Thereafter, she performed in several lead and comprimaria roles in particular with Opera North, and later with the Dartmouth Repertory Players and with Northern Stage. She served as an intern for two years with the Lake George Opera, afterwards making her European debut with Operafestival di Roma. She enjoys coaching auditioning soloists (both amateur or professional) of all ages in all musical genres;  working with a cappella groups; directing musical theatre bound youngsters; and administering to the aging voice,  to the “tone challenged,” as well as to the recovering voice having pursued studies at Harvard Medical School in Speech Pathology. Her students have sung for Presidents Obama and Clinton, Governors Hassan and Sununu, Senator Shaheen, The New Hampshire State House, The Fisher Cats, as well as on American Idol and on NBC’s The Voice. She has taught at the college level at Colby-Sawyer, Dartmouth, Interplay Jazz, NEC, PSU, and UNH and at Phillips Exeter, St. Paul’s, and KUA. She currently teaches at CCMS, NHTI, and UVMC,  and performs with the Mairzy Doats Duo.
