Inspirational master artists in voice, piano and traditional music

Masterclasses and workshops give local music-lovers access to world-class performers right here at home. If you’ve never attended a masterclass before, you may be surprised at how entertaining and enlightening they can be. In a masterclass, a guest instructor, typically with extensive experience teaching and performing, will listen to a student’s performance and then coach them in front of the audience. The coaching typically focuses on interpretation, dynamics, and other strategies that go beyond basic technique into what makes a performance interesting and engaging for the audience. Taking a positive approach to feedback, the masterclass gives the audience a window into how professionals approach a performance and how they push students to the next level.

This fall, UVMC offers Upper Valley residents the opportunity to perform for guests in masterclasses, join the audience for student and guest performances, play along in workshops, and even step on stage with touring performers as a back-up singer!
