Elementary school students are invited to develop the skills and musicality that comes from singing with an ensemble, as well as the joyous community, social structure, and mental health benefits! This ensemble will focus on developing children’s voices in a supportive environment with age-appropriate instruction and community celebrations to share music with family and friends.

Schedule Two rehearsal times are offered, and families can choose one or the other day. Tuesday rehearsals will take place at White River School in the Music Room. Both sections will come together for a final celebration, during which families will be invited to hear what children have learned.

Emma Greenough Voice

Emma Greenough

Voice

Emma Greenough is a vocalist and choral singer, ethnomusicologist, choral director, and music educator. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Music from St. Lawrence University, she moved to Cork City, Ireland. She completed a Master of Arts in Ethnomusicology at University College Cork, where her passion for community outreach and inclusion by way of singing was fostered. In addition to being an active member in the Irish choral community, Emma founded and began directing Cork Sanctuary Singers Youth Choir, a creative and expressive outlet for asylum seekers and refugee children, and youth living within the Direct Provision system in Cork City. During the pandemic, Emma returned to the States, eventually moving to Boston, where she was Program Manager, Youth Choir Director, and International Tour Manager for Boston City Singers for two and half years. Emma has participated in choral competitions and conferences from Budapest to Istanbul and across Ireland and New England. While living in Boston, she sang with Chorus Pro Musica (Alto), Hot Sauce Rhythm and Blues (Vocalist), and UU Church of Medford Choir (Soprano).

As an active music educator and ethnomusicologist, her passion for creating an equitable and diverse music learning space is crucial to her work. As she progresses in her career, she hopes to make meaningful changes to how and what we teach, in order to best serve youth as they begin their musical journey.

As an Upper Valley native, Emma looks forward to getting back to making music in a place she calls home, as well exploring the outdoors on her xc skis and in her hiking boots – while singing of course!
