Children’s Chorus

Elementary school students are invited to develop the skills and musicality that comes from singing with an ensemble, as well as the joyous community, social structure, and mental health benefits! This ensemble will focus on developing children’s voices in a supportive environment with age-appropriate instruction and community celebrations to share music with family and friends.

This semester includes a special opportunity to work with guest artists Sol y Canto, a Latin American band who will be visiting the Upper Valley for a residency with UVMC choral ensembles. The band will visit rehearsal on Thursday, October 1 to teach music, and return for a community concert on Tuesday, November 10.

Rehearsal Structure Children’s chorus is open to children in grades Kindergarten-4th grade who are ready to participate in a large group setting including sitting, standing, and singing for 75-minute rehearsals.  Please contact the office if you have questions about your child’s participation, if your child will need accommodations to participate, or if you want to know about other classes that provide small-group instruction or more free movement. Our goal is to be welcoming to all children and to provide a range of developmentally appropriate music activities that work for many types of young musicians! 

Schedule Two rehearsal times are offered, and families can choose one or the other day. Tuesday rehearsals will take place in Lebanon. Thursday rehearsals will take place at White River School in the Music Room. Students from any school district can attend either section. Both sections will come together for a final celebration, during which families will be invited to hear what children have learned.
