Join us in welcoming Upper Valley Music Center’s new faculty members!
Molly Finkel
is a freelance bassoonist in Vermont and across the northeast, performing in various ensembles throughout New Hampshire, Vermont, and northern New York. In addition to teaching at the University of Vermont, she is the current bassoon instructor with the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association for the Endangered Instrument Program.
Joe Palmer-DeClara
is an accomplished music educator with over fifteen years of experience in teaching guitar, piano, bass, and general theory. He has led Rock Band Ensemble classes at the Art House Astoria Conservatory for Music and Art in NYC, facilitating an appreciation for the art of musical collaboration. Joseph holds a BA in Music from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.
Bruce Sklar
is a busy educator, jazz pianist and composer who has been living, performing and teaching music in Vermont since 1983. His jazz compositions have been a staple in the Vermont jazz scene, and have been featured in many recordings. He has just recently retired from teaching at Harwood Union High School, after creating the award winning jazz program there, and sustaining it for 30 years.
Andrew VanNorstrand
is a musician, singer and songwriter based in Springfield, Vermont. He has performed on festival stages, concert halls, dance floors and living rooms all over North America and beyond. As a teenager, Andrew and his brother Noah helped define a new generation of contra dance music with their family band The Great Bear Trio.
