Joseph Palmer-DeClara

Joseph Palmer-DeClara is an accomplished music educator and composer with a passion for fostering musical skill and knowledge in students of all ages. At Art House Astoria Conservatory for Music and Art, Joseph led Rock Band Ensemble classes, preparing students for school-led recitals and performances on instruments such as guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums.

Joseph’s over fifteen years of experience in music education includes teaching music theory and various instruments at institutions such as Belle Arti Center for the Arts and Cadenza Music Center. His approach to teaching is centered on creating an environment that allows students to familiarize themselves with their own unique relationship with music, ensuring they have the space to learn how they understand music and how that can help enrich their own lives as well as group environments.

As a composer and sound designer, Joseph has participated in several game development competitions, most notably the Summer Jam 2024, where his team won 1st place overall and 1st place in audio for his music. Joseph has also composed commissioned works for podcasts, and is currently the Audio Director for an independent games studio. Joseph holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.
