Summer 2022 at UVMC

Students from 8 months to 80+ years played and sang with us in camps, festivals, classes, lessons, and events all summer long. UVMC partnered with organizations throughout the Upper Valley including Kilton Library, CCBA, Lebanon Recreation, Lebanon Opera House, Hopkins Center for the Arts, AVA Gallery and Art Center and Special Needs Support Center to bring music education programs to the community.

Singing for the Stage

11 campers practiced musical theater singing with Julie Ness and Jennifer Hansen

Hanover Street Chamber Music Festival

15 musicians worked with 4 faculty coaches to study and perform in chamber ensembles.

Fiddle & Guitar Intensive Week

16 fiddlers and guitar players learned tunes and skills together.

Camp K

UVMC partnered with Lebanon Recreation, Arts & Parks to bring music class to summer camp for the 4th year for 152 students ages 5-12.

Camp CCBA

In a new partnership, UVMC also brought music classes to Carter Community Building Association's recreation camp, serving 175 students ages 5-12.

Music Lab and Camp Aspire

Partnering with Special Needs Support Center, UVMC led music classes for 8 adults and 10 campers.

Paint to the Music and Art-estra Orchestra

26 students participated in camps in partnership with AVA Gallery and Art Center.

Early Childhood Music Classes

25 children and their grownups participated in Music Together classes and a Suzuki Explorers class.

Upper Valley Chamber Orchestra

UVMC's community orchestra rehearsed throughout the summer in preparation for the fall concert.

Individual Lessons

246 students enrolled in more than 1,000 one-on-one lessons on a range of instruments.

Traditional Music

Fiddlers and fiddle-tune lovers gathered for Slow Jams and Monday Night Fiddle Class.

Special Events

Community Sing

Guest artists Lea Morris and Patricia Norton led a community singing workshop on June 30.

Cambridge Youth Gamelan led two workshops in Colburn Park on July 9.

Seth Parker Woods

The cellist Seth Parker Woods visited for a conversation with UVMC cello students in conjunction with his Hopkins Center concert.

Kilton Library Concerts

Ben Kulp and Jeremiah McLane performed in free community concerts in a partnership with Lebanon Public Libraries.

Grab & Go Concerts

UMVC students performed at the Upper Valley Senior Center for their grab-and-go meal delivery for three lunchtime concerts.

Nexus Festival

13 UVMC students and faculty performed in Lebanon Opera House's Nexus Festival including a parade through Lebanon's tunnel!
