Gillian Smith-Davis began her career as a singer and later completed degrees in Opera Directing at Indiana University Bloomington (M.S.) and the University of Texas at Austin (D.Mus.A), where she studied with the award-winning director, Michael Bloom. She has worked as a director, assistant director, and stage manager at companies including the Dallas Opera, Opera Pacific, Boston Lyric, and Florida Grand, but has particularly enjoyed teaching and working with young artists at Mannes College of Music, the Austrian American Mozart Academy, and the young artist programs at Dallas Opera and Florida Grand. In her managerial and organizational roles, Gillian oversaw the scheduling for complex, multi-layered companies, ensured clear communication between departments, and facilitated the smooth operation of the team.
