Upper Valley Symphony Orchestra

Sunday, April 14,
3:00 pm
to 5:00 pm EDT
Suggested $20 adults, under 18 free

The Upper Valley Symphony Orchestra explores an exciting and varied program under the direction of Mark Nelson in the newly renovated Lebanon Opera House. Ralph Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, inspired by an 1881 poem of the same name, features Marshall Meade whose violin solo represents the bird’s flight in this pastoral and lyrical piece. In Gabriela Ortiz’s Kauyumari, commissioned by the LA Philharmonic as a celebration of the post-pandemic return to the stage, inspiration comes from the spiritual guides of the Huichol people of Mexico and their traditional music. Haydn’s Drum Roll symphony and Janáček’s fanfare round out the concert with music full of grandeur and joy. Formerly known as Upper Valley Chamber Orchestra, UVMC’s longest-running ensemble has taken on a new name to represent the growth of participation in recent years.

Haydn, Symphony No. 103, “Drum Roll”
