Suzuki Cello and Viola Studios Host Guest Musicians

This week the Suzuki cello and viola programs host guest performers and teachers here at Upper Valley Music Center. Learning from master teachers and playing alongside another studio gives UVMC students the opportunity to build community and incorporate new energy and ideas.

This Saturday the UVMC cello studio will host Sarah Bennett Wolf and the SBW Cello Ensemble from Norwalk, CT. Fourteen students along with their teacher will travel to Lebanon to perform their ensemble’s repertoire as well as common tunes in a side-by-side performance with UVMC. The concert is open to the public and will include popular songs arranged for cello, classical musical, and Suzuki favorites.

On Monday, April 3, UVMC welcomes guest artist Rachel Fabulich for a viola workshops. Fabulich will lead workshops for students enrolled in the Suzuki viola program, followed by a pizza party for families. Rachel brings many years of experience in Suzuki instruction and viola performance.

The focus on viola continues into next month when UVMC’s viola instructor Dr. Jennifer Turbes will perform a viola recital, with Will Ogmundson on piano. The program includes music by Reena Esmail, Charlott Hampe, Harry Burleigh, and Jessie Montgomery.
