SUMMARY:Upper Valley Symphony Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Under the direction of conductor Mark Nelson\, the Upper Valley Symphony Orchestra performs its annual spring concert. The program features a new work especially commissioned in honor of the Upper Valley Music Center’s 30th-anniversary season. Pablo Santiago Chin\, who teaches music at the Longy School of Music and Dartmouth College\, has adapted the rhythms and textures of seasonal sounds in his composition Upper Valley Seasons.  Two movements\, “Autumn” and “Winter” will be premiered at this concert; the premiere of the complete work will occur during the 2026-27 season.  This concert program also includes Carl Maria von Weber’s Overture to Der Freischütz and Carl Nielsen’s Saga-Dream; it will conclude with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6. \nThank you to Vermont Violins and Jake’s Market & Deli for sponsoring this concert!

SUMMARY:Suzuki Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Upper Valley Music Center’s Suzuki program presents the annual Suzuki Showcase concert featuring music from across the ocean. This concert features more than 100 students ages 3-18 performing on cello\, viola\, and violin\, plus special guest balafon master Mamadou Diabate as the culmination of an educational residency. The concert will bring together Mamadou Diabate’s tradition of West African music from his home country of Burkina Faso with other world music traditions\, classical repertoire\, and American fiddle tunes. This event is the culmination of UVMC’s Sing & Play Festival\, a celebration of music-making in our community.
