Vocal Soundings
Fridays 7-8 p.m. EDT or EST

What does circlesinging look like on Zoom? Definitely different! Yes, and still exploratory, connected, and profoundly accepting.
- Breath: strengthening and expanding lung capacity.
- Singing: creating tones and varied sounds over chord changes.
- Improvisation: playing games and saying “yes, and!”
- Presence: allowing the vibration of sound to open, comfort, heal, and challenge us.
Allow this hour to nourish you, and deepen your engagement with your own voice. In the first half of each class, guided by Patricia’s prompts and soundscapes, you experiment with your individual breath and voice, and begin to discover an intuitive flow. The second half moves into collaborative musical games, retaining that intuitive flow connection, which allows us all to deepen our exploration and soundings.
While many people choose to participate on a weekly basis, this group also welcomes drop-in attendance for those whose schedules don’t allow for regular commitment. Class meets online via Zoom. Your registration confirmation will contain specific login instructions.
Patricia has studied vocal improvisation and body percussion with Bobby McFerrin, Rhiannon, Judi Vinar, Zuza Gonçalves and Tiago Grade; she has an ongoing practice of presence and acceptance. Since March 8th, she has been experimenting with the Zoom platform with a variety of groups, both as facilitator and participant. With other circlesingers around the world, she is collating resources and ideas for online circlesong leading.
We recognize that many are experiencing financial hardship at this time. Voluntary payments help pay the session leader and support the work of the Upper Valley Music Center.
