DESCRIPTION:Looking for a warm and welcoming space to share your music with other creative people? The Upper Valley Music Center offers the opportunity for songwriters to play music for each other in an encouraging environment. Whether you are a seasoned songwriter or just mustering the courage to sing or play in front of people\, you will be welcomed and listened to here. Composers of songs without words are also welcome to come share their music. This event will be hosted by UVMC Faculty Members including Julie Ness\, Jennifer Pomeroy\,  and others TBA. \nRSVP appreciated but not required. Payment for this program is completely optional\, and gratefully appreciated. DESCRIPTION:Upper Valley Music Center’s Suzuki program presents the annual Suzuki Showcase concert featuring music from across the ocean. This concert features more than 100 students ages 3-18 performing on cello\, viola\, and violin\, plus special guest balafon master Mamadou Diabate as the culmination of an educational residency. The concert will bring together Mamadou Diabate’s tradition of West African music from his home country of Burkina Faso with other world music traditions\, classical repertoire\, and American fiddle tunes. This event is the culmination of UVMC’s Sing & Play Festival\, a celebration of music-making in our community.

DESCRIPTION:In Technique Tune Up workshops\, UVMC faculty review the fundamentals of technique for playing or singing\, so that you can build confidence and refresh your memory. These workshops are especially for musicians who studied or played at an earlier part of their lives\, but need a refresher to prepare for joining an ensemble or making practice a regular habit again. Technique Tune Up workshops are free and open to the community\, with pre-registration required.  \nThis Singing workshop will be led by Jennifer Pomeroy\, a member of UVMC’s voice faculty. The workshop will include discussion and practical application of breathing techniques\, exploration of resonance and how to make sounds with different qualities\, shaping sound using embouchure\, and diction. Participants will warm up as a group\, integrating the techniques that have been discussed\, and then sing together as a group\, exploring simple and accessible repertoire and practice applying the basics to a song.
