DESCRIPTION:Upper Valley Music Center’s Suzuki program presents the annual Suzuki Showcase concert featuring music from across the ocean. This concert features more than 100 students ages 3-18 performing on cello\, viola\, and violin\, plus special guest balafon master Mamadou Diabate as the culmination of an educational residency. The concert will bring together Mamadou Diabate’s tradition of West African music from his home country of Burkina Faso with other world music traditions\, classical repertoire\, and American fiddle tunes. DESCRIPTION:Looking for a warm and welcoming space to share your music with other creative people? The Upper Valley Music Center offers the opportunity for songwriters to play music for each other in an encouraging environment. Whether you are a seasoned songwriter or just mustering the courage to sing or play in front of people\, you will be welcomed and listened to here. Composers of songs without words are also welcome to come share their music. This event will be hosted by UVMC Faculty Members including Julie Ness\, Jennifer Pomeroy\,  and others TBA. \nRSVP appreciated but not required. Payment for this program is completely optional\, and gratefully appreciated. SUMMARY:Dover Quartet Chamber Music Workshop
DESCRIPTION:UVMC welcomes the Dover Quartet\, in conjunction with their Hopkins Center performance\, for a chamber music workshop. Small ensembles will receive private coaching with the ensemble members of the quartet. Space is limited\, and interested musicians can contact chambermusic@uvmusic.org to inquire about participating. \nNamed one of the greatest string quartets of the last 100 years by BBC Music Magazine and “the next Guarneri Quartet” by the Chicago Tribune\, the two-time Grammy-nominated Dover Quartet is one of the world’s most in-demand chamber ensembles. The group’s awards include a stunning sweep of all prizes at the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition\, grand and first prizes at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and prizes at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. Its honors include the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant\, Chamber Music America’s Cleveland Quartet Award and Lincoln Center’s Hunt Family Award. The Dover Quartet is the Penelope P. Watkins Ensemble in Residence at the Curtis Institute of Music and Quartet in Residence at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music.

SUMMARY:Upper Valley Symphony Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Under the direction of conductor Mark Nelson\, the Upper Valley Symphony Orchestra performs its annual spring concert. The program features a new work especially commissioned in honor of the Upper Valley Music Center’s 30th-anniversary season. Pablo Santiago Chin\, who teaches music at the Longy School of Music and Dartmouth College\, has adapted the rhythms and textures of seasonal sounds in his composition Upper Valley Seasons.  Two movements\, “Autumn” and “Winter” will be premiered at this concert; the premiere of the complete work will occur during the 2026-27 season.  This concert program also includes Carl Maria von Weber’s Overture to Der Freischütz and Carl Nielsen’s Saga-Dream; it will conclude with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6. \nThank you to Vermont Violins and Jake’s Market & Deli for sponsoring this concert!
