SUMMARY:Bruce Molsky and Martin Philip: Fiddle & Flour
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of artist and artisan workshops!\n1:00 pm Fiddle Workshop\nWe’ll take a fun approach in Bruce’s old time fiddle workshop and dig into a few tunes\, first melody\, then bowing\, and then piecing things together.  It’s all about old-time music’s unique phrasing\, rhythm and syncopation\, intonation\, etc.  Bruce will demonstrate some regional styles and tunings\, too\, but mostly we’ll be playing!  \nSuggested experience level:  If you have at least a small repertoire and feel comfortable learning short phrases by ear\, then you’ll be fine. No written music will be provided\, so bring a recorder or smart phone. Please\, do not post recordings on social media. \n1:00 pm Bread Workshop\nJoin author and baker Martin Philip for a bread talk\, short demonstration\, and Q&A on all things baking. Martin will lead an engaging bread talk and live demo that blends craft\, science\, and story. He’ll cover the essentials of great bread\, from fermentation to shaping and baking\, demystifying sourdough and sharing practical tips along the way. Warm\, approachable\, and informative\, the session will leave home bakers inspired and more confident in their own kitchens. \n\n\n\n\n\n2:30 pm Conversation and Q&A with Bruce and Martin\nJoin masters of fiddle and flour for a lively conversation on music making and bread baking\, followed by Q&A. \n3:30 pm Old Time Jam Session\nAll instruments welcome for an old-time jam led by Bruce\, Martin\, and special guest Annie McDougall on fiddle and banjo. \nRegister for workshops here! \nABOUT BRUCE MOLSKY\nAcclaimed fiddler and singer Bruce Molsky is also a serious threat on banjo and guitar. He’s “one of America’s premier fiddling talents” (Mother Jones) and a Grammy nominated artist. Bruce’s collaborations with musicians from just about everywhere have allowed his own voice to grow in unexpected directions. His most recent recording “Bruce’s Halling” with Swedish maestro Ale Möller brings together traditions in a new and fresh way\, and “Lockdown Breakdown” with longtime friend and colleague Darol Anger explores new fiddle territory\, from old-time to Scandinavian to Old School R&B. No Depression calls his solo album\, “If It Ain’t Here When I Get Back“ an album from an absolute master.” Bruce’s guitar album\, “Everywhere You Go” was called “a beautiful document” by Acoustic Guitar magazine. In concert\, he’s engaging\, conversational and personal as he brings listeners into his own unique musical space with tunes\, songs and stories from decades of music experiences.  \nBruce keeps his creative fires lit through collaborations and teaching\, as the go-to guy for the next generations of roots players at Berklee College of Music\, where he is the Visiting Scholar in their American Roots Music Program. brucemolsky.com \nABOUT MARTIN PHILIP\nMartin Philip is an acclaimed American baker\, author\, and educator best known for his influential work in the world of bread and baking.
