French Canadian Music Workshop with Nicolas Babineau and Alexis Chartrand

Learn French Canadian dance music with Alexis Chartrand and Nicolas Babineau. We will offer two concurrent workshops:

Intermediate Fiddle with Alexis Chartrand: Chartrand has taught all around Canada, and is known for his collaborations with dancers, including his father Pierre Chartrand. Learn French Canadian tunes and techniques well informed by his deep knowledge of the tradition.

Accompaniment with Nicolas Babineau: Whether it’s guitar, bass, mandolin, bouzouki, fiddle or foot percussion, Babineau can pick up any instrument and make it sound good. Bring your instrument and learn about his approach to accompanying in the Quebecois style.

Workshop: 3:30-5 pm, $15
Concert: 7 pm, $15
Combined ticket: Workshop + Concert $25
