Faculty Performance: Ben Kulp, cello, and Jennifer Turbes, viola
3:00 pm to 4:30 pm EST

Join Upper Valley Music Center faculty members Ben Kulp, cello, and Jennifer Turbes, viola, for modern music with melodic appeal. The concert features a piece by local composer and Marion Cross music teacher Travis Ramsey, who explores historical composition techniques with a wry modern twist. The rest of the program showcases mostly living composers, with some Beethoven thrown in for good measure. Bunch, Wianko and Shaw revel in tonality and tone, creating beautiful sound worlds that capture the listener’s ear, while Ung dives into the grunge of tight harmonies. Beethoven stands up elegantly in his 250th year with his curiously named Duet with two Obligato Eyeglasses.
