Suzuki Cello Teacher

Description
Teaching position in rapidly growing Suzuki String program at the Upper Valley Music Center (UVMC), a non-profit community music school with programs for children and adults. The Suzuki program comprises over 130 students in violin, viola, and cello. In addition to the Suzuki program, the UVMC offers year round instruction in a wide range of instruments as well as orchestra, chorus, ensembles, school outreach, fiddle and other group programs. Faculty and staff are encouraged to show organizational commitment through participation in events, concerts and programming. Performance opportunities are available in the community and
broader New England region.

Duties
Position includes private and group Suzuki cello lessons. Close collaboration with other faculty
and parents in developing Suzuki and other UVMC programs expected.

Qualifications
Music Degree and SAA registration in Books 1 – 2 required. Registration in Books 3 and above highly desirable. Candidate must be committed to Suzuki philosophy, with well developed nurturing and communication skills. Teamwork and willingness to help develop UVMC programming essential.

Salary
Competitive hourly rate with the potential to grow to a full time position with benefits.

Location
Lebanon, NH; is part of the growing Upper Connecticut River Valley that includes Dartmouth College, a major regional medical center, technology businesses and a growing arts community. Lebanon is 1 hour from Concord, NH, 1.25 hours from Burlington VT, 2 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from Hartford CT.

August 2008
The Music Center becomes a full service Music School.

November 2008
We've moved! The UVMC is in a bigger, brighter, cleaner and more suitable facility located at 63 Hanover Street.
The Music Center becomes a member of the National Guild for Community Schools of the Arts.

March 2006
Chamber Music America has named UVMC the winner of CMA’s annual “Acclaim” Award for special services to chamber music.
